Administrative Assistant – Washington, DC
The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) Administrative Assistant (AA) serves as the primary support for the Public Policy Office’s Leadership Team and serves in a general support function for staff who advocate for the public policy interests of U.S. pork industry.

Summary: The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) Administrative Assistant (AA) serves as the primary support for the Public Policy Office’s Leadership Team and serves in a general support function for staff who advocate for the public policy interests of U.S. pork industry.
The AA responsibilities includes handling paperwork and administrative tasks for leadership team members, administrative support as necessary for public policy office, greeting visitors and answering the telephone; meeting and event support; coordination between NPPC’s headquarters office and public policy office, including scheduling, travel arrangements, tracking and ordering office supplies, and other administrative activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists Public Policy Office leadership team on special projects.
- Work with the office manager to ensure office support staff coverage.
- Maintains efficient and up-to-date records and business contacts, including drafting and filing expense reports for leadership team members.
- Greet visitors, answer telephone, screen and directs call, handles mail, and other material.
- Maintain office calendar synchronize with the Des Moines office to disseminate information to Washington, D.C. staff.
- Works with Office Manager on the management of office goods and services as necessary to meet D.C. staff needs.
- Works with office manager to engage with vendors, coordinate staff and other meetings, lunches and other assorted events.
- Assist with supporting Office Manager of the planning and execution of D.C. office meetings, including catering and A/V support.
- Coordinates, compiles, and prepares reports as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining a professional and clean office environment.

Qualifications: Must be self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently. Needs to work well with others, be flexible, and open to change. Good organizational skills are essential for multitasking several projects, prioritizing, and making sound decisions. Must possess the ability to coordinate and plan multiple meetings and projects simultaneously. The position requires building knowledge of Council practices/policies and regular and reliable attendance. Must have a good computer skills and working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Hours: The position requires daily in person attendance during regular business hours for the Public Policy Office and will occasionally require after hours assistance and attendance during special events, meetings, conferences.
Travel: Requires minimal travel. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience: The position requires an associate degree with prior administrative experience in business or association settings. Work experience can be substituted for education requirement. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Requires light physical effort such as stooping and bending, and occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 pounds), and general assistance around the office stocking office supplies.
