Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

Reports to:  VP Operations & State National Relations, and AVP of Operations & HR

Date: May 2026

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support for the DSM office, including front desk coverage, visitor reception, phone screening, and mail handling
  • Communicate with NPPC investors and external stakeholders as needed, ensuring accurate information sharing and timely follow-up
  • Coordinate office logistics including supply ordering, equipment monitoring, vendor coordination, and facility needs
  • Make travel arrangements and manage related account reconciliation, including rental car administration
  • Provide basic accounting support such as check tracking and credit card reconciliation
  • Prepare mailings, reports, presentations, and internal documents using Microsoft Office
  • Assist with planning and execution of meetings, trainings, and events, including logistics and onsite support
  • Provide backup support for Executive Assistance to CEO (Board) and Strategic Investment Program (SIP) membership administration
  • Support committee coordination and cross-functional projects as needed

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the should possess the following knowledge and skill sets:

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Self-motivated and a self-starter
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good public relations skills
  • Professional personal presentation
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of Salesforce software CRM
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

 

Education and/or Experience Required or Desired:

The equivalent of associate degree Ag background a plus. One to three years of experience as an administrative assistant or similar job is required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work involves near continuous use of computer terminal.
  • Requires light physical effort such as stooping and bending, and occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 50 pounds).

 

Travel

Less than 10% travel, various annual meetings. Valid driver’s license required.

 

Location

National Pork Producers Council Iowa Office; Urbandale, Iowa – This is an on-site, in-person position. Regular, daily attendance is required to fulfill the duties of this role.
