Spring and Summer 2027 Resource Development Internship

Supervisor: Director of Industry Resource Development

Overview:
The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) serves as the global voice for the U.S. pork industry, advocating on behalf of 60,000 American pork producers. NPPC engages with legislators, regulators, and industry partners to support policies that promote the social, environmental, and economic sustainability of U.S. pork producers while expanding access to global markets.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Stakeholder Engagement, Communication, Negotiation, Networking, and Event Planning. The selected intern will work with NPPC’s Resource Development team to strengthen relationships with key investors, including producers and industry partners. You will gain practical experience in Resource Management, Event Planning and Coordination, Fundraising, Networking, and supporting advocacy events.

Responsibilities:

• Event coordination and execution: PorkPAC Auction at the National Pork Industry Forum and World Pork Expo
• Draft sponsorship agreement letters and sponsorship packages
• Support NPPC campaigns and events as needed
• Expand your professional skillset and industry network
• Build exposure to pork industry issues, network, and organizational structures

Expected Travel:

• State Pork Association Congresses
• National Pork Industry Forum in Arlington, Texas – March 2-5, 2027
• Spring Legislative Action Conference (LAC) in Washington, DC – April 7-8, 2027 (optional)
• Spring Pork Alliance Meeting in Des Moines, Iowa – April 21-22, 2027

Internship Timing and Location:

• Spring 2027: Part-time, January–May, primarily remote with the option for in-office hours in Urbandale, Iowa, if location and schedule allows
• Summer 2027: Full-time, May–August, based in Urbandale, Iowa, with hybrid flexibility

Selected candidates will be contacted by Denise Veldhuizen, Assistant Vice President of Operations and Human Resources, and Jake Sterle, Director of Industry Resource Development. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for mid-October and the beginning of November 2026.
