CONGRESS OUT NEXT WEEK
Senate and House lawmakers adjourned for the holidays this week until after the start of the New Year, leaving a host of unfinished business. Among the issues still to be resolved is passage of a long-term federal funding bill. Earlier this month, Congress approved a measure that keeps government programs running only through Feb. 18, 2022.
 

DEADLINE FOR PORK INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS APPROACHING
Applicants for NPPC’s 2022 Lois Britt Memorial Pork Industry Scholarship, which is sponsored by CME Group and managed and administered by NPPC, must apply by Monday, Jan. 3. The program, introduced in 1990 by CME Group and NPPC and named in 2006 in honor of the late-NPPC board member Lois Britt, awards $2,500 scholarships annually to 10 college students who intend to pursue a career in the pork industry.
